చికాగో త్యాగరాజ ఉత్సవం

చల్లని నదీమతల్లి గోదావరి చల్లతనంలా సాగిపోయింది ఈ సంవత్సరం మెమోరియల్ డే వీక్ ఎండ్. చికాగో మహానగరం దగ్గర లెమోంట్ లో శ్రీ రామాలయంలో శని, ఆది, సోమ వారాలలో జరిగిన 'శ్రీ త్యాగరాజ స్వామి ' వారి కర్నాటిక సంగీతోత్సవాన్ని సందర్శించే అవకాశం కలిగింది. వీనులకు విందైన చక్కటి శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతం, నోటికి పసందైన ఇంటవండిన భోజనం ఇవి వారు మాకు అందించినవి. ఇంక ఇంతకు మించి ఏకావాలండీ?

ప్రముఖ విద్వాంసులు శ్రీ టి.ఎం.క్రిష్ణ, శ్రీ.మహారాజపురం,శ్రీ గుండేచా సోదరుల హిందుస్తానీ భజనలబాణీ,శ్రీమతి.అరుణా సాయిరాం,శ్రీమతి.ఎం.ఎస్.షీలా లు అందించిన అలౌకిక ఆనందం ఒక ఎత్తు, ఇక చికాగొ నగర ప్రాంతాలలో మన శాస్త్రీయ కర్ణాటక సాంప్రదాయాన్ని నిలబెట్టటానికి అహర్నిశలు పరిశ్రమించిన పిల్లలు,వారి తల్లిదండ్రులు, నేర్పించిన గురువులు వారందరి కృషి ఒక ఎత్తు.

ఇటు ప్రముఖ విద్వాంసులని ఆదరిస్తూ, అటు చిన్నపిల్లల ప్రతిభని మనకందరుకూ తెలిసేలా చాటిచెప్పిన ఈ కార్యక్రమ నిర్వాహకుల సంగతి ఏం చెప్పమంటారు? "నభూతో నభవిష్యతి!" అనవచ్చు కానీ పరిస్తితి అదికాదు, వారి ఉత్సాహం, కృషి చూస్తుంటే ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ఇంకా,ఇంకా బాగా చేస్తారన్నది ఖాయం.

ఇంత మంచి అనుభవం హృదయాన్నీ,దేహాన్నీ కూడా అలరిస్తాయన్నది అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. శాస్త్రీయ సంగీత జ్ణానంలేని నేనే ఇలాటి అనుభవాన్ని పొందితే, ఇక ప్రాజ్ణుల సంగతి చెప్పాలా!!

మనదేశంలో పాశ్చాత్య వరవడి ఎక్కువై "స రి గ మ " అంటే నే తెలియదనే ఈ ఆధునిక యుగంలో అమెరికాలో పుట్టి, పెరిగి, మన సంగీతంలో సాధన చేసి, అందరినీ మెప్పించిన ఆ పిల్లలు, వారిని కన్నవారు కూడా నిజంగా ధన్యులు.

Yesterday was National "Mole" day. I am a Physics guy and all this fascination about "Moles" is amusing to me. Obviously, its a gimmick to get younger generation to get interested in Chemistry. If you are wondering what is a Mole- it is the basic unit in chemistry as angstrom is in Physics..kind of!. It is celebrated annually on October 23 from 6.02am to 6.02pm..why? because mole is a celebration of Avogadro's number of 6.02 x 10^23! That's really cool. I attended the music concert of Sudha Raghunathan last week. I am sure it was not one of her best. But, I enjoyed it.I started early from my office but I was caught in traffic. It was home coming weekend of Badgers. It was interesting to see the elderly indian crowd walking along with the home coming party students on the university campus. I had to park my car half mile away and walk up and down the steepest parts of the campus area. Since it was free concert some of the students accidentally stumbled in, sat for few minutes and then ran away. Carnatic music is acquired taste. My guess is, most of the audience are there because they are enjoying the rhythm and melody, like me.

ఆషామాషీ

I have to admit, I have always admired people who have a blog. Its like having a personnel dairy pages posted on public notice board. There is some sense of exhibitionist attitude in it. Of course, you don't have to say really what you feel! right? Anyway..I have decided to take the plunge and express and expose ( No.. Not that kind of exposing) my soul to world wide audience. Bit about myself..I am from AndhraPradesh in India and my early schooling was in Vijayawada and later in Hyderabad. So any body out there who studied in "jyothi Bala mandir" around 1968-69 and Montessori 1972 _SSC batch and later in Nizam's (Hyd) M.Sc 1977-1979 .. I would be thrilled to hear from you! My blog site's name is Ashamashi.. in telugu it means..something easy..the way to pronounce it is AshAmAshI. My grandfather who is is now puffing away happily in the high heavens.. "Ravuru" has written a satirical column in Andhra Prabha titled -Ashamashi for about two decades. A very humorous and original daily musings about society and life around him in general. In fact it can be called as a 1960's blog. what the heck will I write here...no clue..
